Another Business Makes The Switch

So yesterday was the big day at Homes4Good. Sunday night I was at the office for about 4 hours setting up Mac Minis so that we could do a massive training for the nine people at Homes4Good that were getting the new Minis. Yesterday was the day they got introduced to the Mac and their Windows machines were taken away from them.

Overall, it went very well. Some of them are taking to it very easily, other’s are fighting it a bit. The main point they need to understand is that it’s ok to ask for help. The fear is that some of them might not want to ask because they don’t want to be a “bother.” However, as they were told yesterday, this is new for most of them and there are many things that they shouldn’t expect to know. The philosophy on the Mac is different, and things aren’t where they expect them to be. But, they can do so much if they will just be willing to try.

The next thing on my agenda is getting their home directories mapped to the server, getting server shares mapped automatically when they log in, and then start building some tutorials on how to use and do certain things. Hopefully, there will be time to do maybe one a day and upload them to the server so they can try them out. Might be interesting to begin with NetNewsWire.
