Um, Excuse Me, Can I Suggest Something Here?
Ok, so I’ve been thinking. While listening to the MacCast this morning something has started to float around in my brain. And it’s starting to annoy me.
So, Apple drops the “Computer” from its name. Steve Jobs says Apple is a software company. Snow Leopard is going to be Intel only. Apple says in a conference call we’ve created an umbrella under which competition has lived for far to long.
So, in September, Apple has something big showing up. Everyone is on the same page with that at this point. So I have a theory about what exactly it’s going to be.
Vista is a disaster, every one hates it, no matter what Microsoft says about Mojave. Apple is on the top of the ladder at the moment, Microsoft is struggling to get any attention, at least any GOOD attention.
I think Apple is going to release Snow Leopard as Intel only. I am just more and more convinced that it’s not going to be Apple hardware only. There are just some compelling arguments that Apple could do this. Could they pull it off? I don’t know. There are some real support issues with releasing Mac OS X for generic hardware.
I don’t know if this is it, but it’s something that my friend Maxx and I have been thinking and talking about for a few years now. I am more and more convinced that it’s going to happen, and happen sooner rather than later.
If you do the math, it’s much cheaper to burn a massive amount of DVDs to push it to the public, versus building and marketing a new computer or device to people. The hardware between and Mac and a PC is generally identical, so support wouldn’t have to be taught a new skill. Not to mention how this would drive the sales of other Apple hardware, like Time Capsules for example.
Just my two cents.

I agree that Vista failed… Because people prefer to stay on XP. Outside of USA Apple is not even on the ladder at all.
I dislike when people multiply Apple by 50… Like - Mac is killing Microsoft, iPhone is killing Nokia… That’s just not real.
