Ike Update
Ok so I thought now that my iPhone seems to be able to communicate with the Internet again I would post and update as to what has been going on.
We lost power about 6:10am Saturday morning as Ike blew through. The house came through with out any problems and even with 80 mph gusts I think we all slept through most of it. So I can’t complain there. We got about 8 inches of rain from Ike but due to our location flooding wasn’t an issue. After the rain stopped the sun came out but it didn’t get super hot so it wasn’t too bad. I actually left during Ile at about 10:30 to check on my mom, step-dad, grandparents and my aunt and uncle. All were fine.
Sunday morning we were woken up by a massive thunderstorm about 3:45 in the morning. This added another 2 inches of rain but no more wind. We have had enough of wind for the time being I think. Sunday was very warm and a bit uncomfortable with no A/C but we managed. Had chicken and pasta for dinner. Things weren’t yet starting to thaw in the freezer yet.
Last night (Monday morning) a cool front came through and chased me from the couch downstairs as I was sleeping without a blanket to my bed. Monday was a great day to be outside. Very comfortable and sunny. The kids even got a bit of a sunburn.
We never lost water only power and are still waiting for that to come back. We have heard rumors of up to 3 weeks. But we are all hoping it’s sooner than that. The neighboorhood is full of kids and everyone has been outside the last 2 days. It’s been nice to get to know more of the nieghbors. Everyone has been very nice and patient. Though the lack of feul andpower is starting to worry some.
I’m going to venture out and see if I can get some pictures tomorrow. And also see if I can find the ice and MREs that FEMA is handing out.
Post more later. Hope this finds whoever reads this ok.

I totally didn’t realize you were over there. I’m so glad you are okay!
Would love to see photos!
Keep dry!
Glad to hear you got through it ok. I only really started to worry about Ike when I saw the “Certain Death” warnings from the National Weather Service. We’re still seeing some effects here, over 800 miles away…
